Audrey Hepburn – A Global Style Icon

Audrey Hepburn has always lit up the silver screen, not only for her acting prowess but also for her outfits and accessories that included exquisite pieces of jewelry and of course her famous hats. She and the hats were a match made in heaven, not only gracing the screen but also the cover of almost all glossy magazines around the world.

Rarely has Audrey been seen without her signature hats. AudreyHepburn in hats has been a permanent fixture in all her movies including Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Fair Lady, and Funny Face. Her pillbox hat style was the favorite of Jackie Kennedy and is worn by British royalty like Kate Middleton.

Here are some hats designs made famous by the star.

The chiffon turban from Sabrina is perhaps the chicest of all her hats. It fits snugly on her crown and was created by the famous French designer and Audrey’s life-long friend Hubert de Givenchy. It has inspired a slew of designs that are still in fashion today.

Another of Audrey Hepburn in hats portrait is from Funny Face. The double-banded wide-brimmed straw hat perfectly frames the face of the actress. Decades later, Princess Diana made this straw hat her signature style.

The wide-brimmed marvel, the Chapeu du Matin came alive in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Paired with pearl earrings and oversized sunglasses, it is a look that is still in style. A long silk scarf is tied around the base of the hat, giving it an elegant appearance and is one of the timeless creations in Audrey Hepburn in hats.

In all her movies, the hats she wore have always been unique and exclusive.

Tiffany & Co. Luxury Jeweler and Specialty Retailer

Tiffany & Co., better known universally as Tiffany’s, is an American luxury jeweler and specialty retailer with its headquarters in New York City, USA. Famous for its luxury goods, a wide range of items are available at Tiffany’s including jewelry, sterling silver, china, crystal, watches, water bottles, leather goods, personal accessories, fragrances, stationery, and more. These products are sold through Tiffany’s stores located all around the globe, direct-mail, and corporate merchandising. The company has created a niche as an arbiter of style and taste and is particularly identified for its diamond and sterling silver jewelry.

Tiffany’s flagship store has operated from the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in Manhattan since 1940 with the window displays placed in trademark polished granite exteriors. The store has been the location of some famous Hollywood movies including the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, thereby setting a trend for Audrey Hepburn Tiffany jewelry after the name of the actress. Sweet Home Alabama starring Reese Wither spoon was also shot in the store.

In Breakfast at Tiffany’s Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) professes her love for Tiffany’s. She says that the store drives her crazy and just being there drives away her blues. However, surprisingly, the jewelry pieces worn by Hepburn in the film are not from Tiffany’s including the 5-strand pearl necklace she has on in the opening scene. The one exception is the Ribbon Rosette necklace from Tiffany’s store used in the photo shoot for the promotion of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and is thus branded as Audrey Hepburn Tiffany jewelry. The necklace consists of 128.54 carats of yellow diamonds and is on display at the Fifth Avenue, New York store today.
